The Bahamas is one of those destinations that surprises people — even experienced travelers — because most only know Nassau and Atlantis, and the Bahamas is so much more than that. It’s an archipelago of 700 islands, cays, and islets stretching from just 50 miles off the coast of Florida all the way down to the coast of Cuba. The water — and this is not an exaggeration — is some of the clearest, most impossibly turquoise water anywhere on earth. In parts of the Exumas, you can see the sandy bottom through 30 feet of water as easily as you’d see through a glass of water.

We love booking the Bahamas because there’s a version of it for everyone. Families who want a resort experience with enough to keep everyone busy for a week. Couples chasing pink sand beaches and solitude on Harbour Island. Divers heading to Andros for one of the most spectacular reef systems in the Atlantic. Day-trippers from Miami who want a taste of the Caribbean without a long flight. All of it is the Bahamas.

Choosing Your Bahamas Island

Nassau & Paradise Island

Nassau is the Bahamas’ capital and by far the most visited destination. Paradise Island — connected to Nassau by bridge — is home to the sprawling Atlantis resort, which is essentially a self-contained world: a massive water park, marine habitat, casino, 11 pools, miles of beach, and more restaurants than you’ll have meals to fill. For families, Atlantis is genuinely hard to beat. Nassau itself has great shopping, history, and local Bahamian food that doesn’t get nearly enough credit.

Exuma

The Exumas are an absolute gem — a string of 365 cays with almost no development and water so clear it looks fake. This is where the famous swimming pigs live. It’s where billionaires anchor their yachts. And it’s where you go when you want a Bahamas experience that has nothing to do with casinos and water parks and everything to do with the actual natural world. Getting to Exuma usually requires a small regional flight from Nassau, which we’ll arrange for you.

Harbour Island

Small, exclusive, and genuinely special. Harbour Island’s Pink Sands Beach stretches for three miles and actually is pink — a rosy blush color from crushed coral mixed with the white sand. The tiny village of Dunmore Town has some of the most charming colonial architecture in the Bahamas, and the boutique hotel scene here is exceptional. This is a honeymoon and anniversary destination par excellence.
